Focus Group Discussions on the UP System GE Program Evaluation

Last September 2019, the General Education Center organized a series of focus group discussions (FGDs) on the 2017 General Education Program. The students were divided according to clusters, including UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga (UPDEPP). The FGDs were facilitated by 5 UP Diliman faculty.

The FGDs were conducted as part of the UP System GE Program Evaluation handled by the Technical Working Group (TWG) under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The students were asked, among others, about their GE experiences and learnings as compared to their other courses and subjects in senior high school, as applicable.

Students who have taken at least four GE courses, with a grade of 1.5 to 2.5 were chosen randomly. The discussions ran for 2 hours, with 6-9 students in each group.

The reports on the FGD were written by the professor-tandem who facilitated the discussions respectively. They will be consolidated by the TWG and reported by the OVPAA.
