Following the successful run of its 2021-2022 and 2024-2025 cycles, the General Education Center (GEC) Diliman launched the third cycle of LINANGAN: The General Education (GE) Faculty Development Extension Program 2026–2027 through its introductory webinar, “Bakit Hindi Dapat ‘GE Lang’?: Ang Kuwenta at Kuwento ng General Education sa Nagbabagong Panahon,” on 7 September 2026 via Zoom and YouTube livestream.
The General Education Center (GEC) was recognized at the UPD QAhusayan Fair 2026 for its significant role in promoting and advancing quality assurance activities across the University. The Certificate of Appreciation was conferred by the UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office during the event’s closing ceremonies on the 11th day of September 2026, at the Bulwagang Tandang Sora, College of Social Work and Community Development.
Bringing together the General Education (GE) faculty members, administrators, and academic leaders from across the constituent universities of the University of the Philippines (UP), the UP System GE Conference 2026, themed “Pagtanaw sa KaaGE: Through the Years,” was held on June 4–5, 2026, at the Institute of Biology, UP Diliman (UPD). Centered on the themes of looking back, looking through, and looking forward to the UP GE Program, the two-day conference featured keynote, plenary, and parallel sessions that provided a venue for participants to reflect on the fulfillment of the UP GE Program, review current teaching and learning practices, and reinforce the UP GE Program through critical assessment of potential changes in the educational landscape.
The General Education Center (GEC) welcomed representatives from Sulu State University (SSU) for an in-person benchmarking activity on May 6, 2026, at the Diliman Interactive Learning Center, UP Diliman.
The University of the Philippines Center for Education and Development, under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, held a panel discussion on General Education in Higher Education on May 22, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Institute of Biology Auditorium, UP Diliman.
Following the recent conclusion of FGDs for its research on GE objectives, the General Education Center (GEC) participated and presented the preliminary findings of its landmark GE Program Assessment research during a plenary talk at the 2nd UPLB General Education Planning Workshop entitled “Dalub-Turuan 2.0: Dalubhasaan sa Pagtuturo ng GE sa UPLB; Guro sa Kapwa Guro” last 5 May 2025 in the university’s REDREC Auditorium.
The General Education Center (GEC) has recently concluded the data gathering phase for the preliminary phase of evaluating the University of the Philippines Diliman’s (UPD) current General Education (GE) program. The objective of this preliminary study is to address the repeated calls for the operationalization of the GE objectives through understanding how UPD stakeholders understand and define them.
