The General Education Center (GEC) conducted the first GE Coordinators’ Meeting and Orientation at Pavilion 1131, Palma Hall, on September 30, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The meeting brought together 37 GE Coordinators and some college secretaries from various colleges to address concerns and matters pertaining to general education in their respective units.
GEC Director Charles Erize P. Ladia led the meeting, formally opening it with a message and introducing the GE Coordinators in attendance. He then provided an overview of the GEC, covering its history, core functions, and ongoing projects.
Two of the GEC’s current projects were presented during the meeting. Junior Office Associate Khiara Quenzelle D. Belleca presented LINANGAN: The GE Faculty Development Extension Program 2026–2027, encouraging the GE Coordinators to participate in the program’s upcoming sessions and to recommend potential speakers and moderators. Senior Research Associate Stephany Louise A. Marquez then discussed the Construct Clarification of the UPD GE Objectives study, providing the coordinators with an update on its progress.
The meeting also covered approved policies for GE Coordinators and addressed GE-related concerns gathered from a pre-meeting registration form, giving coordinators an opportunity to raise and discuss matters relevant to their respective units. The meeting concluded with an open forum, allowing the GE Coordinators to raise additional questions and concerns directly with the GEC.
The first meeting marked a significant step in strengthening coordination between the GEC and GE Coordinators across the university, laying the groundwork for a more structured and collaborative approach to the delivery of the UP General Education Program.
