The General Education Center (GEC), marked a significant milestone as its research study, “Construct Clarification, Scale Development, and Validation of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) General Education (GE) Objectives,” was presented by Junior Office Associate Stephany Louise Marquez on July 30, 2025 at the the International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School 2025 (IPRRFSS), organized by The Graduate School of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).
The IPRRFSS was held from July 29 to August 1, 2025, with the theme Interdisciplinary Frontiers: Exploring Mind, Language, and Environment for a Sustainable Future, and the objective of “cultivating a collaborative environment, encouraging postgraduate students to transcend disciplinary and geographical boundaries, present their research, and engage with individuals from diverse cultures and communities.” Participants included graduate students and researchers from various countries.
During the presentation, the study received remarkable feedback from the audience. Its sound methodology was commended for its depth, and participants raised insightful questions regarding the use and the ethical implications of using AI (Whisper) in transcribing proceedings of focus group discussions.
This global involvement reflects GEC’s commitment to the review and evaluation of the GE program and GE courses, and its support for GE-related research initiatives through its focus on quality education, innovation, and strategic partnerships.
